Before there was a forest, there was a tree. Before the tree, there was a seed. And, before the seed could grow, it needed the right climate and care to reach great heights.
If you are a parent,a volunteer, BSA staff member, or Scouting supporter, you have helped to sow a seed of greatness in every Scout whose life you have touched. How well you take care of a seed impacts how well it can grow. And after a century of planting character and in
tegrity into the hearts and minds of our country’s young people, more than 100 million Scouts have grown into some of the nation’s greatest leaders, advocates,
citizens, parents, and friends.
From the first Scout in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has created a legacy. From one tree today, we can create a forest to witness the next 100 years of Scouting.
We invite you to help in the planting of 100,000 trees, creating a strong, living symbol of Scouting’s century of contributions.
Through the Arbor Day Foundation, everyone can plant a Boy Scouts of America 100th Anniversary tree. For each tree that is ordered, the Arbor Day Foundation is donating a corresponding tree to build the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Forest in Montana. Or, you can have both trees planted in the BSA Centennial Forest.
Who will you plant your tree for?

“The Crimson Tide delivered a decisive victory over the number 1 ranked Gators just a few minutes ago, making Alabama the 2009 Southeastern Conference Champions. The reporters are still interviewing the players and coaches. The confetti has not settled to the ground, but already everyone is looking toward the National Championship game.
Alabama turned in a great performance, easily managing to score early and often. The Tide moved the ball pretty much whenever and wherever they chose to. Florida made several mistakes that could have made it a closer game, but they really just never got any substantial momentum going.
Although I enjoyed the game immensely, I have to admit being a little disappointed. I expected stronger competition from Florida. I am not one of these guys who keeps up with all of the stats and watches every team that plays every weekend, so I do not pretend to be at all qualified to comment on why Alabama was able to dominate Florida the way they did. I will leave that to the professional commentators and armchair quarterbacks. But after being ranked behind them for weeks, I really expected more of a battle on the field.
Being a lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide fan, I am proud of our players. They played a great game, and I am looking forward to the National Championship game.
Congratulations Alabama Crimson Tide Players!

As a computer consultant, people are always asking me how to cut down on the number of spam email messages they get. I have seen cases where clients were receiving hundreds of unsolicited messages every day. That makes it very hard sometimes to get anything productive done. As I get a chance, I will post tips for cutting down on spam. Some of them are targeted at reducing the global level of spam, and some will help you directly.
The US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away.
Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer. I use it when I am working outside. It really works. The insects just veer around you. All this time you’ve just been putting Bounce in the dryer!Continue reading »
This is a special post just for friends and family. They tore down the house yesterday. It sat empty for way too long and it was time to get rid of it before it became a hazard.
I intended to get some better footage, but I left the good camera in Mama’s car so I shot this little clip with my Blackjack II cell phone. The video is jerky, but it is still cool to see just how easy that Komatsu PC160 wipes it out.Continue reading »
Anyone who spends any time with me knows that I am a customer service freak. I believe that if I am going to spend my hard earned money with you, you should treat me like you actually want my business. I always try to give my clients more than they pay for, because I believe they deserve it.
But it seems like customer service is dead nowadays. I am not going to go into a whole bunch of detail here. I will save the ranting and raving for my new site. I am creating a site where people can post their stories of unfair treatment in the marketplace.
I get a lot of questions about online identity theft. Many people are afraid to shop online for fear of getting robbed. A lot of people think that it is dangerous to enter your credit card information into a website. They are afraid some unscrupulous hacker is sitting there watching their every move. The truth is that you are actually safer shopping online than in a department store.
It does not matter if you support the war or not, everyone supports the men and women serving over there. XEROX has given us a very easy way to say thanks this holiday season.
Just use the widget below to send a thank you card. This is not an electronic card. XEROX is actually going to print these thank you cards and mail them to our troops! There is no cost to you. All it takes is a minute to send your thanks to our troops overseas.
These soldiers will not get to spend the holidays with their families. They have chosen instead to protect you and your loved ones while you enjoy your holiday festivities.
You have an extra two minutes to thank them for their dedication; I know you do! Just use this widget and do it! Then send all your friends and family here. Then let your kids send their own thank you cards.
Make a difference in the life of a soldier with just a few clicks of your mouse right now!
I received this anecdote in an email from one of my friends. I love it and wanted to share it, so here it is.
A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little girl, Shelby. She wanted to know what the United States looked like, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Shelby , and said, ‘Go into the other room and see if you can put this together. This will show you our whole country today.’
After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly.
‘Oh,’ she said, ‘on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus (Yahshua). When I got Jesus(Yahshua) back where He belonged, then our country just came together.’
